This original example of a vintage Eames DSS base, by Herman Miller graced countless schools, halls and sports venues. It is perhaps the most widely known chair. Only available on the side shell, this revolutionary base allowed multiple Eames side chairs to be stored safely, securely and neatly away.

The stacking base was a common base used by the likes of schools, churches, stadiums, anywhere that required a large number of chairs that could all be stacked away after use to re-open the space.

This particular version is finished to fit the ‘wide mount’ configured Eames side shells which means it can be used on shells that are set up in the ‘wide mount’ format and means you do not have to alter them to make it fit to the base.
